Katie began her career in acting after studying at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, where she received her B.A. in Psychology and minor in English. Upon graduating she moved to New York, where she worked in healthcare administration while pursuing her Master's degree in General Psychology at Hunter College at The City University of New York. After working in different areas of healthcare and psychology, she found her true passion to be in acting. Toward the end of 2012 she dedicated her life to acting and began her career in film and television.

Katie appeared as an extra in various television shows, commercials, and films before enrolling in an On-Camera class at Weist-Barron Studios where she studied with acting coach and director Frank S. While taking acting classes she continued to do extra work to gain experience on set, and also had her first supporting and co-star roles in student films produced at New York University and New York Film Academy. She also worked as a line producer for an independent television pilot where she had a role as a day player.

Shortly after finishing these projects she had her first supporting role in a feature-length film, the independent horror film Thanksgiving Day (2013) directed by Raven Williamson. She then landed her first lead role in a feature film in Play Hooky: Innocence Lost (2014) directed by Frank S. Petrilli. Play Hooky: Innocence Lost is an independent horror film and the sequel to Play Hooky (2012), for which Petrilli won two awards and a distribution contract at the Pollygrind Underground Film Festival in Las Vegas. Play Hooky will be the first film from the Pollygrind Presents sub-label Wild Eye Releasing, and Play Hooky: Innocence Lost is lined up for foreign and domestic distribution.
